I have questions.
In the public eye and according to the application, the BLRA School Board President is still working on marketing efforts for other charter schools and getting paid for it. How can it be said the BLRA School Board is for BLRA when the President is actively recruiting students away from BLRA and directing them elsewhere?
In the public eye, how can the BLRA School Board say they are for BLRA, its staff, and students when there have been FIVE documented complaints from students and staff regarding a current Board Member and her behavior of harassment, aggressiveness, bullying, and improperly using their Board Position to further an agenda that could be argued is not in the best interest of BLRA?
In the public eye, why did the School Board President not address these issues? What about self-governance? If the School Board cannot self-govern, how can they be trusted to make the best decisions?
I can’t think of any credible business or company that would approve hiring a consultant who is actively working for their competitors. The Board can decide to ignore and reject their own conflict of interest and eligibility policies, but waiving those doesn’t solve the clear and obvious problem that the board president dba AKBZ LLC presents major conflicts on many levels. The conflicts still exist whether the board waives eligibility requirements or not.
The board president should be recusing herself from ALL discussions and votes on:
1. Contract with the management company 2. recruitment 3. enrollment 4. marketing 5. branding 6. campus tours and open houses 7. community outreach to promote BLRA schools 8. The BLRA foundation 9. The Banning Lewis Ranch Schools Foundation (Oakwood homes) 10. Program info, especially if it’s unique to BLRA schools.
